42 Degrees Tasmania Pinot Noir 2025 - 12 Bottles

Winery Background

42 Degrees South, crafted by Frogmore Creek, is a showcase of Tasmania’s cool-climate winemaking. Located in the Coal River Valley, the winery focuses on producing expressive wines that reflect the pristine environment, long ripening seasons, and unique terroir of the region.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2025 vintage Pinot Noir comes from mature vines in the Coal River Valley, where cool breezes and extended sunshine hours allow for slow, even ripening. The season was mild with low disease pressure, delivering fruit of excellent balance—small berries with concentrated flavour, fine tannins, and bright natural acidity.

Winemaking Process

Grapes were handpicked and sorted for quality before small-batch fermentation. A portion of whole bunches was included to enhance aromatics and texture. Gentle plunging during fermentation extracted delicate tannins and colour. The wine matured in French oak barriques, a mix of new and seasoned, for several months to build complexity without overpowering the fruit purity.

Tasting Notes

Medium ruby hue with lifted aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, and subtle spice. The palate is elegant and silky, showing layers of red berry fruits, gentle savoury notes, and fine, well-integrated tannins. A vibrant acidity carries the wine to a graceful, lingering finish.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with roast duck, mushroom risotto, herb-crusted lamb cutlets, or grilled salmon. Also complements soft cheeses such as brie or camembert.

Story Behind the Wine

This Pinot Noir captures the essence of Coal River Valley’s cool-climate elegance. The 2024 vintage reflects the region’s finesse—fragrant, finely structured, and delicately complex, perfect for enjoying now or with short-term cellaring.
