Angove Family Crest Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2023 - 6 Bottles

Winery Background

Angove Family Winemakers, founded in 1886, is a respected family-owned winery in South Australia. The Family Crest range celebrates their heritage by focusing on regional purity and varietal elegance, especially from cooler climate regions such as Adelaide Hills.

Vineyards & Vintage Conditions

Fruit for the 2023 vintage was sourced from elevated sites in the Adelaide Hills, where crisp mornings and mild afternoons help Chardonnay grapes retain acidity and develop flavour in a balanced way. The cooler climate and elevation afforded the fruit clarity and purity of character.

Winemaking Process

The grapes were hand-picked and gently pressed. Fermentation was split between French oak barrels and stainless steel, giving a blend of freshness and complexity. Partial malolactic fermentation and lees stirring added creaminess and depth, while preserving the natural crisp acidity of the variety.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Pale straw with green hues.

  • Aroma: Fragrant white peach, nectarine, and lemon peel, lifted with smoky French oak and a touch of nougat or spice.

  • Palate: Crisp and refined, with stone fruit and citrus flavours wrapped in creamy texture. Balanced oak and vibrant acidity lead to a clean, fresh finish.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with seared scallops, roast chicken with herbs, creamy risotto, or grilled Mediterranean vegetables.
