Situated on the historical property of Langton, Mount Barker, West Cape Howe winery was founded in 1997. Directed by Senior Winemaker Gavin Berry, West Cape Howe crafts single varietal, outstanding wines known for reflecting the Great Southern region's cool climate characteristics. The winery sources most of its fruit from Langton Vineyard, which has some of the oldest vines of the region, planted in 1978.
TASTING NOTES
The best Shiraz grapes from the most mature vines in Langton Vineyard were selected for this Single Vineyard Two Steps Shiraz. Showing a deep, dark crimson colour, this fragrant wine opens with rich and spicy aromas of smoky fruit and fennel. The beautifully weighted palate is sweet and mouth filling with boysenberry flavours. Fleshy, smoky and spicy berry fruit flavours are complemented by French oak characters and drying tannins. Having a cellaring potential of 4 to 6 years, the wine tastes best with beef, lamb and poultry dishes.
