Warburn Estate 1164 Australia Nero d'Avola 2022

Winery Overview

1164 Limited Release is the premium range from Warburn Estate, crafted by the Sergi family who have been making wine in New South Wales for almost forty years. Chief winemaker Carmelo D’Aquino oversees the small vineyard parcels used for this collection to ensure every bottle reflects quality, care and strong regional character.

Region and Vintage Conditions

The 2022 vintage was defined by dry weather and low yields. These conditions helped the grapes develop rich flavour and colour while keeping the fruit balanced. The wine is sourced from premium growing areas across the Riverina in New South Wales.

Source

Fruit is selected from small, carefully managed parcels of vines. Low yields allow the grapes to gain intensity, structure and varietal clarity.

Winemaking

The wine is matured for twelve months in both French and American oak. This adds warmth, spice and smoothness while highlighting the natural depth of Nero d’Avola.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Ruby red.

Aroma: A complex mix of florals, earthy notes and vanilla.

Palate: Rounded, warm and medium-bodied with gentle spice and smooth fruit.

Finish: Soft, balanced and lingering with floral and vanilla hints.

Key Characteristics

  • Smooth and rounded style

  • Floral and earthy aroma with gentle vanilla

  • Medium-bodied with well-balanced fruit and oak

Food Pairing

Perfect with lasagna, gourmet pizza, mince-based dishes and rich tomato sauces. It also works well with hearty comfort foods.
