Located on O’Neils Road in Tabilk, Victoria, the Tahbilk winery is a reputed wine company, managed by the Purbrick family since 1925. The company currently owns nearly 200ha of vineyards, predominantly planted with unique grape varieties of the Rhone region. This tempting 1860 Vines Shiraz was crafted using premium fruit sourced from the 157-year-old pre-phylloxera grapevines. The first vintage of this great wine was released in 1979.
TASTING NOTES
1860 Vines Shiraz is a light red coloured wine showing bright crimson hues. A swirl of the glass presents scintillating aromas of blackberry, allspice and earth. The dense and savoury palate is rife with intense flavours of black and red cherries, coupled with a gentle touch of dried herbs. Fresh acidity and silky tannins combine with these magnificent characters, to culminate in a captivating finale. Crafted to be relished fresh upon release, this wonderful Shiraz can also be cellared for 20 to 25 years from vintage. Suggested food pairings include medium rare ribeye steak, hamburgers and toffee nut cake.
