Red Claw Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2023 (375ml) - 12 Bottles

Red Claw Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2023 (375ml) - 12 Bottles

Winery Background

Red Claw is the second label of Yabby Lake Vineyard, founded in 1998 in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Known for producing premium cool-climate wines, Red Claw delivers expressive, approachable styles that still showcase the elegance and regional character for which Yabby Lake is renowned.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2023 vintage in the Mornington Peninsula experienced a cool, extended growing season with mild summer temperatures and steady rainfall. This allowed Pinot Noir grapes to ripen slowly, developing vibrant aromatics, refined tannins, and well-balanced acidity.

Winemaking Process

Grapes were hand-picked, sorted, and fermented in small batches, with a portion of whole bunches to add lift and complexity. Fermentation lasted around 10 days, followed by gentle pressing and maturation in a combination of French oak barrels, some new and some seasoned, for subtle texture and spice.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby red. Aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and hints of wild strawberry, lifted by floral notes and a touch of spice. The palate is silky and vibrant, offering juicy red fruits, fine tannins, and a clean, savoury finish.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, or charcuterie platters.

Story Behind the Wine

Created to offer the pure, vibrant essence of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir in an early-drinking style, the 2023 Red Claw Pinot Noir captures the region’s cool-climate elegance in a half-bottle—perfect for intimate occasions or by-the-glass enjoyment.
