Moppity Vineyards 'Twelve Signs Scorpio' New South Wales Pinot Noir 2024 - 12 Bottles

Winery Background

Moppity Vineyards is a family‑run estate operated by Jason and Alecia Brown, based across the cool Hilltops and Tumbarumba regions of New South Wales. The Twelve Signs series is built around individual varietals with distinct character. ‘Scorpio’ Pinot Noir is a focused expression of pinot from their estate vineyards, made for clarity and precision.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2024 Pinot Noir draws fruit from elevated Hilltops sites, where cool nights support flavour retention and build aromatic nuance. Yields were kept modest and canopy management precise, delivering bright fruit with varietal clarity and natural structure.

Winemaking Process

Grapes were hand-harvested, gently cold-soaked then fermented in small batches with careful cap management for gentle extraction. A portion of the wine spent time in older oak barrels for texture, while most remained in stainless steel to preserve freshness and varietal distinction. Bottled under screwcap to maintain consistency.

Tasting Notes

Pale ruby in the glass, the wine offers lifted aromas of red cherry, cranberry and subtle spice. The palate is light to medium-bodied showing red berry, herbaceous lift and fine tannins. It finishes clean, refreshing and elegantly perfumed.

Food Pairing

Scorpio Pinot Noir pairs well with roast poultry—especially chicken or turkey—and mushroom or root vegetable dishes. It also complements mildly spiced vegetarian meals and soft cheese boards.

Story Behind the Wine

‘Scorpio’ Pinot Noir is part of Moppity’s Twelve Signs collection, designed to bring personality to single-varietal wines. Continuing tradition with minimal intervention, it reflects the Hilltops’ fresh fruit tone and highlights varietal purity, expressive yet never overdone. Consistent every vintage, clear in character and made to be enjoyed.
