Moppity Vineyards 'Lock & Key' New South Wales Chardonnay 2024 - 12 Bottles

Winery Background

Moppity Vineyards is a family-owned estate run by Jason and Alecia Brown, with vineyards in the Hilltops and Tumbarumba regions of New South Wales. Their Lock & Key range showcases varietal character and purity, offering exceptional value for cool-climate Australian wines.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2024 Chardonnay is crafted from fruit grown in high-altitude vineyards in Hilltops, where warm days and cool nights help retain natural acidity while allowing gradual flavour development. The 2024 vintage saw a long, even ripening season with low disease pressure, resulting in vibrant fruit with excellent balance.

Winemaking Process

Hand-picked and gently pressed, the juice underwent fermentation in a mix of stainless steel and seasoned oak barrels. Partial malolactic fermentation and a short period on lees contributed to texture and complexity while preserving freshness and varietal clarity.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw in the glass with aromas of white peach, nectarine, citrus blossom and subtle nutty oak. The palate is fresh and lively, showing stone fruit, lemon curd and a hint of creaminess, supported by crisp acidity and a clean, mineral finish.

Food Pairing

This versatile Chardonnay pairs well with roast chicken, grilled salmon, creamy pasta dishes or vegetable tarts. It also complements soft cheeses or lightly spiced fare.

Story Behind the Wine

This Chardonnay is Moppity doing what it does best. Cool climate fruit, balanced winemaking and a focus on drinkability. The 2024 vintage is fresh and polished with just the right amount of character to keep things interesting. It is an easy choice when you want a quality white that speaks to both place and value.
