Meerea Park Individual Vineyard Hunter Valley 'Alexander Munro' Semillon 2018 - 12 Bottles

Winery Background

Meerea Park is a family-run estate in Pokolbin, Hunter Valley, founded in 1991 and now managed by Rhys and Garth Eather. The ‘Alexander Munro’ label is named after Rhys’s great-great-grandfather and represents their top-tier Semillon, produced only in select vintages where the best parcel is chosen for single-vineyard expression.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2018 Semillon comes from old vines in the Braemore vineyard on Hermitage Road. Drought conditions with moderate heat helped develop clean, concentrated fruit while preserving acid integrity. Fruit yield was around 1.5–2 tonnes per acre in those dry, even conditions.

Winemaking Process

Fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel without oak or malolactic intervention. The wine was bottled under screw-cap and released early, ensuring its youthful purity and longevity.

Tasting Notes

Still bright and youthful with a pale straw-green hue. Aromas include lanolin, toast and wax with a hint of citrus. The palate presents firm acidity with lemon, green apple and a pure, saline finish. Remarkable length and freshness for its age.

Food Pairing

A terrific match for freshly-shucked oysters, shellfish, goat’s cheese or light fish dishes. Ideal also with simple citrus- or herb-infused meals that highlight its acidity and texture.

Story Behind the Wine

‘Alexander Munro’ Semillon is Meerea Park’s flagship wine from an individual Hunter Valley site. The 2018 vintage stands out for its purity and tension, refreshing yet dense in flavour. Beautiful now and built to evolve over years in the cellar.
