McLaren Vale Mystery Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Crafted in the heart of McLaren Vale, this Cabernet Sauvignon brings together parcels from select vineyards to highlight the region’s depth and character. Careful winemaking and attention to terroir ensure a wine that balances elegance, structure, and varietal purity.

Region & Vintage Conditions

The 2020 vintage in McLaren Vale began with hot, dry conditions but was saved by cooler January weather and timely February rainfall. These conditions delivered fruit with impressive concentration, freshness, and balance. Harvested in mid-March, the grapes expressed both vibrancy and regional intensity.

Winemaking

Small-batch vinification with extended skin contact (8–12 days) allowed for full flavour extraction. Partial barrel fermentation added further complexity, followed by 18 months of maturation in French oak hogsheads. A mix of new and seasoned barrels were chosen to craft a final wine with richness, layered aromatics, and supple tannins.

Tasting Notes

• Appearance: Deep ruby with brick-red edges

• Aroma: Cassis, bay leaf, cedar, and dark chocolate, alongside hints of leather and earthiness

• Palate: Ripe blackcurrant, plum, and milk chocolate, structured by savoury tannins and lively acidity
