Winery Background

Lost Farm Wines is a cool-climate winemaking project by the Angove Family, established in 2018. Located in the Tamar Valley, Tasmania, the winery partners with a select group of exceptional grape growers to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. The cool climate of Tasmania is ideal for crafting outstanding sparkling wines, and Lost Farm aims to showcase the potential of this environment. 

Vineyard and Vintage Conditions

The Cuvée NV is sourced from a vineyard situated on a high rise above the beautiful Tamar River in northern Tasmania. The vineyard has stunning northerly and north-easterly aspects, with deep, grey sand soils that deliver pristine fruit with vibrant acidity. The cold climate allows for slow ripening, preserving the natural freshness and elegance of the grapes. 

Winemaking

The blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes is handpicked and whole bunch pressed. Primary fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, maintaining the purity of the fruit. Secondary fermentation develops complexity and richness, resulting in a sparkling wine with a fine bead and delicate mousse. 

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Pale straw with a fine bead.

  • Aroma: Bright and lively aromatics of nougat, apple, and pear, with subtle hints of brioche and almond.

  • Palate: Delicate creaminess from lees maturation, with flavours of green apple and citrus.

  • Finish: Crisp and refreshing, with a lingering, clean finish.

Food Pairing

This sparkling wine pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including shellfish, lean fish, and light appetizers. Its versatility also makes it an excellent choice as an aperitif.
