Les Jamelles Clair De France Rose 2022

Winery Information
Founded by Catherine and Laurent Delaunay in the early 1990s, Les Jamelles is a winery based in the Languedoc region. The couple’s shared passion for wine and their expertise in the industry - Catherine hailing from Beaujolais and Laurent from a Burgundian négociant family - led them to create wines that express the unique terroirs of southern France. Les Jamelles is renowned for producing elegant and balanced wines that reflect the region’s Mediterranean climate, with the Clair De France Rosé 2022 exemplifying this commitment to quality and freshness.

Grape Variety & Terroir
The Clair De France Rosé 2022 is crafted from a blend of Grenache and Cinsault, which together create a wine that is both floral and fruity. The grapes are sourced from various terroirs within the Languedoc:

  • Herault Valley: Mid-slope vineyards benefit from the Mediterranean climate, producing rich, sun-drenched wines.

  • Thau Lagoon Basin: Sandy alluvial soils lend freshness and salinity to the wine.

  • Narbonne: Calcareous clay soils contribute richness and balance, with the region’s dry and sunny climate ensuring healthy, ripe fruit.

Vinification
The grapes are pressed immediately after harvest, with the must clarified using flotation to ensure a clean, clear juice. Fermentation occurs at low temperatures (15°C) to preserve the delicate aromas and flavours. This process results in a fresh, vibrant rosé with no malolactic fermentation, allowing the wine to retain its crisp acidity and bright fruit character.

Tasting Notes
The Clair De France Rosé 2022 is a pale pink wine with inviting aromas of raspberry, grenadine, and subtle floral notes. The palate is perfectly balanced, with a lively freshness and round, smooth texture. Flavours of ripe red berries dominate, complemented by a hint of herbaceousness and a clean, crisp finish. It’s a rosé that’s both elegant and playful, making it a delightful choice for a variety of occasions.

Awards & Ratings

  • Gold Medal – Wine Showcase (2022)

Food Pairing
This rosé is perfect for enjoying well-chilled (around 8°C) as an aperitif or paired with light meals. Try it with fresh salads, grilled seafood, or summer vegetables. For a more exotic pairing, Catherine Delaunay suggests prawn skewers marinated in ginger and coconut milk, or enjoy it with a simple but delicious combination of melon and prosciutto.
