Hardys Stamp Australia Cabernet Merlot 2023
Winery Overview
Hardys is one of Australia’s oldest and most established wine producers, founded in 1853 by Thomas Hardy. The Stamp range reflects the style of wines Hardy set out to make: reliable, well-made Australian blends that focus on balance, flavour and consistency. Cabernet Merlot is a long-standing combination within the range, bringing together structure and softness in a classic format.
Vintage Conditions
The 2023 vintage delivered healthy fruit with good flavour development. Conditions allowed the grapes to ripen steadily, producing a wine with balanced fruit expression and moderate structure.
Winemaking Techniques
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were vinified separately before blending. Fermentation was managed to retain fruit character, with restrained oak influence used to support structure and mouthfeel without dominating the wine.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep ruby red
Aroma: Blackcurrant, plum and dark berries with subtle spice
Palate: Medium-bodied with ripe dark fruit flavours, gentle oak notes and smooth tannins
Finish: Clean, balanced and softly rounded
Key Characteristics
• Classic Cabernet Merlot blend
• Medium-bodied with smooth tannins
• Fruit-forward with balanced structure
Food Pairing Recommendations
Pairs well with roast meats, beef pasta dishes, burgers or mushroom-based meals.
