Greenock Estate Barossa Valley Shiraz Cabernet 2019

Winery Background

Greenock Estate is a family-owned winery deeply rooted in the Barossa Valley, one of Australia's most prestigious wine regions. Known for bold reds and traditional winemaking values, the estate champions small-batch production that reflects both varietal character and regional expression.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

Sourced from select Barossa Valley vineyards, the 2019 vintage benefited from a dry growing season and warm conditions that produced smaller berries with concentrated flavour. The vines, some of which are mature low-yielding parcels, delivered fruit with deep colour intensity and fine structure.

Winemaking

Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon were vinified separately to preserve their unique characteristics. Fermentation occurred in small open fermenters with regular hand plunging. The wine was then aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels, adding spice and complexity without overshadowing the fruit. Final blending was done just before bottling to achieve a seamless integration of varietals.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Deep garnet with a vibrant crimson hue

  • Aroma: Lifted notes of blackberry, plum and black cherry supported by hints of cedar, dark chocolate and subtle eucalyptus

  • Palate: Full-bodied and richly layered, offering dark berries, blackcurrant and mocha, wrapped in silky tannins. Shiraz brings plushness and spice, while Cabernet lends structure and a touch of savoury depth

  • Finish: Long and satisfying, with lingering notes of dark fruit and well-integrated oak

Food Pairing with Greenock shiraz

An ideal companion to roasted lamb, grilled ribeye, or slow-cooked beef dishes. Also complements aged cheddar, mushroom risotto, or hearty vegetarian casseroles.
