Winery Overview

Fox Creek is a McLaren Vale icon, known for producing wines that balance power and elegance while showcasing the region’s best varietals. The Postmaster GSM is part of the Custodians range, crafted from old-vine Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvèdre, a classic Rhône-inspired blend that reflects McLaren Vale’s heritage and terroir.

Region & Vintage Conditions

The 2021 vintage in McLaren Vale was outstanding, with ideal ripening conditions that delivered wines of balance, depth, and vibrancy. Cool nights preserved freshness and aromatics, while warm, even days ripened the fruit to full flavour intensity without losing elegance.

Winemaking

The blend combines Grenache (64%), Shiraz (28%), and Mourvèdre (8%). Each component was matured separately in seasoned French oak — Grenache in puncheons for perfume and lift, Shiraz in hogsheads for spice and richness, and Mourvèdre in a mix of barrels to add earthy structure. Winemakers Ben Tanzer and Steven Soper carefully selected barrels to achieve balance, vibrancy, and harmony across the blend.

Tasting Notes

• Appearance: Bright deep crimson with purple hues

• Aroma: Lifted violets, raspberry, and strawberry layered with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and dried thyme

• Palate: Juicy red fruits (raspberry, red cherry) flow into darker notes of plum and blueberry, accented by subtle brown spice and earthy herbs

• Finish: Fine acidity and textural old-vine tannins provide structure, elegance, and length

Delicious on release but will evolve gracefully over the next 5–10 years with proper cellaring.
