Coppabella Wines Crest New South Wales Chardonnay 2022 - 12 Bottles

Winery Background

Coppabella Vineyard is a family‑run estate in Tumbarumba, NSW, managed by Jason and Alecia Brown. The vineyard stands on a steep ridge at around 650 m elevation, with granite‑loam soils and cool‑climate conditions that favour expressive whites like Chardonnay.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2021 Crest Chardonnay draws fruit from vines planted in 1993 at the vineyard crest. The Tumbarumba region’s long, cool ripening period and dramatic diurnal temperature swings gave ripe grapefruit and nectarine fruit while preserving firm mineral acidity and freshness.

Winemaking Process

Fruit was whole‑bunch pressed directly to barrel. Around 30 % of the wine was fermented in French oak puncheons and barriques, with no malolactic fermentation and periodic lees stirring. A separate stainless steel component underwent lees ageing for six months to balance texture and purity.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw in colour with lifted aromas of grapefruit, nectarine and citrus zest framed by flint, matchstick and subtle spice oak. The palate combines bright stone fruit and white apple with a refined texture and a long, steely finish.

Food Pairing

Pairs well with seafood, shellfish, roast chicken, mild cheeses or creamy vegetable dishes. Its acidity and mineral focus complement citrus‑driven sauces and herb‑inflected meals.

Story Behind the Wine

Crest Chardonnay was crafted to showcase the pure and refined expression Tumbarumba can produce. Made with restrained winemaking and thoughtful blending, the 2021 vintage delivers clarity, tension and elegance in every bottle, Champagne-region style Chardonnay from New South Wales.
